Summmer Music Camp '07
• introducing young people to the world of symphonic instruments & classical music• for young people entering 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th grade in fall & alumni of previous NWS camps • musical experience not necessary • Tuition $100 per child
Content & Activities Instrument Design – explore current instruments of the orchestra – how they’re made and how they’re played. Each day, learn about one family of instruments (brass, strings, woodwinds, percussion) and make your own instrument! Recorders – apply the basics of music reading as you learn to play the recorder. All participants receive a recorder to play and keep. Music Appreciation – discover why music written by Beethoven, Mozart, and Sousa is still played by orchestras all over the world. Experience tone color, melody, harmony, and rhythm and how they work together to make music. Music Van – experience the instruments of the orchestra in a hands-on setting. Try trumpets, trombones, violins, clarinets, and more! Chimes – learn how to ring a choir chime and with others in your group, play a complete song. Snacks – feed the body so the brain can absorb new adventures in music.
