President's Message

About the League

The League was formed 16 years ago to raise funds for our Symphony Orchestra and has now contributed over $1,900,000 toward this goal. The League has also been a friend-raising group and many members say their League friends have become very important in their lives! Our dedicated volunteers have given thousands of hours toward planning and implementing a variety of fundraising projects, including dinner dances, luncheons, auctions, unique small-venue events, trips to local cultural destinations and even international trips.

Volunteer Opportunities

Fundraising

• Serve on major event committees:  invitations, publicity, entertainment, décor, mailings, auction items, reservations, etc.
• Plan and implement small-venue events for The Pleasure of Your Company, an annual series of summertime events held in private homes, gardens and other interesting destinations.
• Plan trips and outings

Outreach

• Meet the Artist:  Assist, provide refreshments
• Recruit and welcome new members
• Assist in preparing and mailing the annual directory
• Pre-Concert Dinners:  reservations, table décor, greet guests
• Symphony Notes (newsletter):  articles, design & composition, proofreading, mailing
• Telephone tree
• Assist with Community Outreach events, and the League table on concert evenings

Education

• Assist with school programs, be a Music Van docent
• Usher at Symphonic Adventures programs for local schoolchildren

Support

• Assist in New West Symphony office with phones, mailings, computer, etc.

As a member of the League you may give as much or as little time as you are able, but the opportunities are varied and abundant.  Working together we can help keep the music playing!
